Analysts and Research Officers
What does it mean to be an “Analyst” or “Research Officer” at Europe Economics?
Analyst
Analysts are required to have a postgraduate degree in economics. Candidates should have strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, be able to communicate complex ideas clearly in writing and verbally and be fluent in English. An interest in applying economic analysis to real-world policy, regulatory and competition issues is essential. Experience working with data or quantitative methods would be an advantage.
Research Officer
The Research Officer role is well suited to outstanding graduates without a Master’s degree in economics who are willing to study part-time while working at Europe Economics. Candidates should hold a first degree in economics or a closely related subject – such as mathematics, philosophy, politics, statistics, finance, international relations, law, engineering, physics or chemistry – and demonstrate strong analytical ability, intellectual curiosity and motivation to develop as an applied economist. Relevant work experience or other distinctive experience is welcomed but not required.
Type of work
From day one, our analysts and research officers are given the opportunity to contribute ideas and draft analyses in proposals and reports. Our analysts and research officers often work on multiple projects at a time as well as assist senior staff on proposals. Europe Economics’ flat management structure means that analysts and research officers often work closely and collaboratively with senior team members.
- Price Controls & Regulation
- Cost of Capital
- Impact Assessment, CBA & Policy Evaluation
- Econometrics, Modelling & Quantitative Analysis
When working on projects and proposals, Analysts and Research Officers will be expected to:
- Carry out a range of analytical tasks both quantitative and qualitative in nature.
- Draft reports, proposals and presentations.
- Meet clients and stakeholders.
- Manage priorities and deadlines.
As well as the key role analysts and research officers play in projects and proposals, junior staff take on crucial administrative responsibilities. These responsibilities are essential to the organisation’s success and will provide you with an insight into how our economic consultancy functions.
Some key administrative tasks include:
- Searching for proposals
- Presenting bidding opportunities to our senior staff
- Collecting and disseminating information on proposals submitted
