Tom Miers runs the Brussels office of Europe Economics, providing analytical support for business, thinktanks and trade associations as well as the EU institutions.
Prior to joining Europe Economics, he was director of a Brussels think-tank that developed public policy and economic analysis in the context of the European Union, while at the same time working with partner institutes across Europe to promote institutional reform and economic competitiveness.
Until 2008, Tom managed an independent think-tank in Edinburgh that researched and developed innovative economic and public policy for Scotland. In September 2008 he launched his own business, working as an independent consultant specialising in research on public policy, economics and business. He has been a regular commentator in the media on these subjects and has worked with a range of public and private sector clients at the interface between business and government – on public relations and public affairs projects, market and sector research, economic research, communications and media work, and policy development.
Tom graduated from Edinburgh University, after which he spent two years in the City developing and marketing structured financial products for the corporate market. He then worked as a management consultant in Leeds, specialising in corporate finance and strategic advice to the retail finance sector, before returning to the think tanks scene in London.
